Have you ever been there?
Are you there now?
Suffering from the pain of someone who has sinned against you? God at times seems silent but the silence may just be a gift to you. I know, it sure does not feel like it when you are in the middle of stuff. In the silence is when we need to seek him with all our heart. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
How do we do that?
If the suffering is brought on by someone sinning against you? We need to be sure that we are not isolated. Isolation is the most effective scheme of our enemy, Satan. If he can get us isolated in our suffering, we are much more prone to listening to the lies that are told to us by our enemy. We may even hear in our heads that you caused these problems, you caused that person to sin against you, you will not overcome this problem. Anytime you hear the word “you” followed by an accusation, this is not from God. It is from your enemy.
The way out of this type of suffering is to take advantage of all of the means of grace that God has given you. Use all the means He has provided. If you have put your trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, you have access to all of the means of grace that God has for His Church. Saturate your mind with God’s word. Start with Psalm 91. Talk to God in prayer and seek out a mature Christian that can come alongside you in your suffering. God is in control, and there is hope. God may seem slow in his response, but he may be refining you with the heat of this suffering.
